Behchoko November 2018: Day 5

Here’s another update from our team featuring Audrey-Ann & Kaleb!

————————————————

I think today, although maybe the hardest day so far, has been my favorite. I really felt like I could see God working in our team and in the kids that we spent time with.

After some amazing breakfast burritos (made by Jessica’s mom and sister), we started our daily morning devotions and I expressed that I wasn’t feeling the greatest and going through some things. The team prayed for me. This prayer led me on the rest of the day. I felt like after we prayed, God had lifted a load off of my shoulders. Throughout the day, it seemed like we were getting closer. I learned more about my teammates and discovered that in Christ there is home, comfort, and in the body of Christ there are people that have gone through something similar to you. We all have trials and tribulations, and today I personally took a step towards overcoming one with help from my amazing teammates and prayer. If it wasn’t for the love and openness of the people on this trip I don’t think I would have been able to help some youth today the way that I did. When we take the time to heal each other it allows us to heal those that may be worse off, and bring them closer to God. If it wasn’t for the prayer and one-on-one time that I had gotten today, I wouldn’t have been able to help a 13-year-old girl answer the question “why does God make life hard”, a question that was prominently answered for me just this morning. God definitely spoke to me through a couple of people today. God gives us struggles to bring us closer to Him, closer to eachother, and to make us stronger. And that’s exactly what happened this morning.

This week has been great. I have grown so much in my faith with God through ministering to these kids. Being thrusted into new and exciting circumstances has grown me as a person and helped me to grow closer with my team. It has helped me to get to know people that I have never met before and get to know better old ones.

Today in devotions we talked about trusting God in the small stuff on top of the big stuff. Through this view sight I was able to feel Gods presence. This morning I got to really feel Gods presence and talk with him. He told me that he was proud of me and the things that I was doing. God has a plan for me and I am only just beginning to see it, but I do know this “The Lord himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.” (Deuteronomy 31:8 NIV). Through this verse I was able to find comfort. While in devotions we talked about trusting God in the small stuff on top of the big stuff. While teaching a bunch of rowdy boys about God through Alpha, I knew that not only was God before me but that even if none of the boys accepted God I was able to be one step of God’s for them to know him. The kids could understand the gospel more thoroughly and be able to talk to some other servants of God.

This week has only just begun and already God has moved in fantastic ways. So excited for God to keep moving in all of our lives.
