Wow. God is SO good.
We've made it to our final destination, and have continually seen God at work here in the North. Today we put on the service at the Church, Will and I did worship, Ben preached, and a couple of us also put on Sunday school for the (many, many, wild) kiddos! Afterwards we made our way around town to show the team the lifestyle up here, bought some ($10/jug) milk at the local Northern Mart, and swung over to the new Sportsplex to hang out with the youth and tell them about the programs we’re running all week. This was a super valuable time and it was so so cool to see the progression from two years ago when we were here when this Sportsplex was just being built. It is so key to have a place for these youth to hang out, play sports and feel safe within their own community.
After that we got back to Church, ate dinner and got ready for Alpha. God sure did His thing.
As 7:00pm approached and no teens were to be seen, I think we were getting a bit worried that we wouldn’t have anyone come, but when you show up for God’s plan, He has a way of working it out in unexpected ways.
A couple team members journeyed back to the Sportsplex and recruited about 10 teens to join us, and arriving back at the Church we found about 10 more kids already there. As the night rolled on youth just kept coming. Even after our programming was over, more and more youth kept coming in to hang out, play video games and chill with us. God is so so good. He works in crazy ways, and sometimes it’s up to us to pray “God flood this place” and trust that He will.
Our team is tired and off to get some sleep. Continued prayer for health and energy, wisdom and even comfort as some of us are definitely missing home. We are so thankful for every one of you back home for your support and prayers.
Talk soon, Jessica and the Team.
